Ruth’s Grand-Daughter, Biographer At Sports Legends Museum

SPORTS LEGENDS MUSEUM AT CAMDEN YARDS PRESENTS PROGRAM WITH LINDA RUTH TOSSETTI AND BILL JENKINSON ON AUGUST 15TH

Babe Ruth’s Granddaughter and Ruth Biographer to Discuss His Remarkable Life

Baltimore,  MD  –  Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards will  host Linda Ruth Tossetti, Babe Ruth’s granddaughter, and Bill Jenkinson, Babe Ruth biographer and author, on Saturday, August 15th at 3:00 p.m.

Tossetti will meet with fans, discuss memories of her grandfather and her efforts to have Major League Baseball honor Babe by retiring the number 3, which he wore with the New York Yankees. A question and answer session will follow. Admission is free with regular paid admission to the Museum.

Appearing with Linda will be Bill Jenkinson, a Babe Ruth biographer and author of  The Year Babe Ruth Hit 104 Home Runs: Recrowning Baseball’s Greatest Slugger.

In this researched examination of Ruth’s storied career, he argues that the Bambino was the greatest slugger of all-time. To make his point, he approaches Ruth from three perspectives. First, he discusses and analyzes Ruth’s historic batting power, relying on original newspaper accounts. He then examines Ruth’s hidden career of about 800 exhibition games. Finally, he does a degree-of- difficulty analysis between the various conditions (equipment, medical sophistication, and press scrutiny, among other factors) Ruth experienced and those of sluggers in other eras.

Located adjacent to the main gate of Oriole Park, Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards consists of 22,000 square feet of artifacts and interactive exhibits profiling Maryland’s sports history, including an extensive gallery dedicated to Ruth that chronicles his life and features unique items such as his kimono from Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel that was presented to Ruth by the Japanese government during his trans-Pacific goodwill mission.
